Crossing the Line
Equator

The 'line' was crossed at noon (zone time) on 1st January 2006, at 27° 42´ west in the Atlantic. This picture depicts the precise moment.

Lynette (right), sweltering in the heat of midsummer in the southern hemisphere, already anticipates the topless beaches of Copacabana. Meanwhile her mysterious doppleganger (left) has yet to cross, and still shivers in the depths of the northern midwinter.

A libation was duely offered in homage to Neptune. (Note that the paint job on the line seems to be holding up well).
