Our Wedding, 20th February 2010 |
After 16½ years of living and sailing together, we decided it was high time to get married. For sentimental reasons we thought this should be aboard Sentinel. The venue was decided on: Westhaven Marina, Auckland, NZ. This pic was taken as we approached the marina. |
Sentinel was repainted, spruced up and decorated with the flags of the countries we had visited to look smart for the day. The guests arrived for pre-ceremony drinks and gossip. |
At 5.15pm Carolyn, our official NZ 'celebrant' arrived, and the ceremony got under way. Pictured is the moment of truth. (Get your hanky out here if you enjoy a good weep at weddings). |
Music was courtesy of Lyn (clarinet), Linda (vocals and flute) and Mary Anne (piano). This was aboard Traversay III moored alongside us in Westhaven Marina, on which Mary Anne has a built-in piano. Click the photo for a short extract - your PC must be able to play MP3's. |
Next the compulsory group photo. L to R, Jan, our sailing friend from Belgium; Raydene, just returned from 6 months in Antarctica; Larry and Mary Anne of Traversay III who we first met in Tahiti; Carolyn; Lyn; Andrew; Linda, Lyn's oldest friend from Colchester; Jane and Graham who we stayed with at Christmas and who were at Lyn's first marriage; and Ian from Auckland.
And then it was off for a slap-up nosh at Bill's Fish Cafe! |

"The blushing bride."
(She did share that chocolate whisky wedding cake). |
For our honeymoon, we went potholing in the Waitomo caves, luged on Mt Ngongotaha's concrete tracks, and visited the geothermal fields at Rotorua.
Click the picture on the right for a short slide-show of some of the sights in the geothermal fields. |
